Take a Closer Look

While in Jr. High the movie “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure” released and ignited Michael’s desire to learn to play the electric guitar. A few years later Michael’s church youth pastor taught him how to play the guitar and he joined the worship team. Shortly after Michael was jamming with highschool friends and forming rock bands. “One of the first performances I remember was at my church’s talent show and we played Metallica’s ‘Wherever I May Roam’. I think I had my shirt partially unbuttoned which might have been slightly inappropriate for a church event lol”, said Michael. During highschool Michael switched from playing guitar over to the bass because his highschool jazz band was in need of a bass player. After forming and playing in numerous bands Michael met a group of like minded musicians while attending Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS in 1998 and the Christian rock band Pillar emerged. Based out of Kansas, Pillar became widely known throughout the midwest and soon after nationally while being full-time musicians independently. Before too long record labels came calling and the rest is history. After a 9 year hiatus Pillar is back making music and rocking stages.
